2019 Scrapper Rules




​      1. Cars or Mini Vans must be totally stock.

     2. No gutting or cutting of any kind.

     3. All vehicles must have head lights and tail lights removed.

     4. All vehicles must have a window net for both passenger and driver.

     5. All vehicles must have a front windshield.

     6. Loop bar is optional.

     7. Driver and passenger much have full face helmet, long sleeves, long pants and shoes.

     8. No full size trucks, full size vans, 4x4's or SUVs

     9. Driver and Passenger must both have a pit pass and be over 14 years of age.

    



2019 Mini Stock Oval Rules

AMMENDED 8-21-19


1. 4-cylinder engines only.

2. NO super chargers, turbos or nitrous oxide, NO rotary engines.

3. Only a complete stock engine for type of car as delivered from the factory.

4. Stock intake manifold with NO modifications

5. Stock exhaust manifold or stock headers with NO modifications.

6. NO aftermarket headers allowed.

7. Removal of catalytic converter allowed.

8. Stock ignitions only.

9. Chassis and suspension must be stock.

10. Transmission clutch or torque converter must be stock.

11. DOT tires only, OEM production wheels, aluminum permitted. No offset wheels.

​12. Locked rear-end and front-end OK.

This is a stock class only.  These rules should match most of the local race tracks--dirt or asphalt!

Chassis/Base Weight:


1. Races longer than 50 laps will have a 1 lb per lap over 50 laps allowance
2. Cars must utilize factory frame sections from the front steering box mount to rear of rear spring pocket/ No underslung rear clips, 58% left side 3100 lbs after race.
3. Stock frame with 3 link suspension, 58% left side.  3175 after race.

4. Any other configuration must confirm with KMS.  Weight may be added or subtracted based on configuration.

5. All lead weight must be securely bolted and painted white with car number.


Transmission:

1. All transmissions must have working reverse gear.
2. Drive shaft loop required.

3.  Drive Shaft must be painted white.



Suspension:


1. Max 78" tread width from outside to outside of tire at spindle height.
2. Stock-type, steel brake calipers only. Brake caliper may not be of a floating design and must be mounted solidly to rear end housing. Must have working brakes on all four wheels.
3. Any shocks. No coil overs or canister shocks allowed.


Wheels and Tires: 


1. Maximum 8" wide steel wheels only.
2. Track tire only.  Hoosier Comanche's
3. No soaking tires or softening permitted.

4. Must start race on tires used for qualifying.


 Engine:

1. Any C.I. one carburetor. 


Body:

 1. Bodies must be stock or AR Sportsman, 5 Star Sportsman, CRA Street Stock, NO Outlaw bodies.

2. Spoiler 6 1/2" x 60" 

3. No open tail sections.

4. No holes cut in tail section.

​5. No under car panning.  No metal below the frame rails.  No redirecting of air under the car. 

 



2019 Street Stock Rules

Car Requirements:

1. Minimum wheel base 108”
2. Frames must be OEM.  No boxing or bending to alter frame.
3. No x-ing frame underneath period.
4. Engine must be centered on chasis side to side.  Engine must be in stock location.
5. Aftermarket bumper covers must cover all bumpers and brace supports and all metal must be behind and covered by the cover.  Must run a stock-type bumper if no bumper cover is used.  Rear bumper/tail light area must be enclosed (no open tail sections).  No louvers or holes allowed. No spoilers allowed (regardless if they are stock)

6. Must remove all glass and flammable material from the car.
7. Leaf spring cars must retain all stock frames front to rear and cannot connect frame rail underneath car.
8. No altering frame in any way.
9. Frame must remain stock, unaltered.  No cutting frame as for to shorten or widen frame.
10. Racing belts and window nets are mandatory.
11. Racing seat and fuel cells are mandatory.
12. Cars cannot be any lower than 6” at any 4 corners of the car with driver in car.
13. Car and driver must weigh 3400 lbs after feature.
14. 55% left side weight max.
15. All cars must have a 4 point roll cage in the car with 4 door bars on driver’s side and 3 on passenger side. Bars can run thru front and rear.
16. No radios allowed.
17. No antifreeze allowed.  A $100 penalty if caught using antifreeze.

18. LEAD must be mounted with a minimum of two (2) 1/2 inch bolts. All weights are to be painted white with the car # painted on each piece. Any driver that
looses any lead from his car will be fined $250 payable prior to any further competition. This rule is in effect during race day or practice days.


Suspension:

1. Factory OEM lower front control arms only.  All A-frames upper and lower must remain stock for that make and model car and must mount in unaltered stock location.

1a: Tubular upper control arms allowed.  Must be sheel shaft, no aluminum shafts allowed.  Must be within 2 inches in length side to side.  No adjustable shafts of a- arms allowed.  Must bolt to stock, unaltered perch.

2. Non adjustable replacement ball joints only.  After market bushings permitted.
3. Must run stock sway bar and must mount in stock location with stock mounts 1 1/8” max.
4. Must retain all stock steering components.
5. Must have working 4 wheel brakes.  No rear disk brakes unless it came factory standard equipment.
6. No bump-stops or suspension travel limiting devices.  No coil binding.
7. All trailing arms must be stock and be in stock OEM mounting brackets in OEM locations on chassis and rear end.. Everything unaltered and stock. Lower trailing arms must be stock length, both sides. May run 9" Ford rear housing with drum brakes. 
8. Shocks must be steel. No adjustable shocks, all shocks must be mounted in stock location.
9. Adjustable front buckets ok.
10. Wedge bolts in rear ok.
11. Rear ends may be a positive track or mini spool or welded.
12. Must run a drive shaft loop.
13. Leaf spring cars must retain all stock frames front to rear and cannot connect frame rail underneath car.


Engines:

1. Maximum Cubic Inch-350 for Chevy and 351 for Ford, Maximum bore .060.
2. All engines must be in stock location.  Can run solid mounts.
3. Engines must be cast iron (block and heads). 
4. Cranks must be stock or OEM replacement.  Crank must weigh 50lbs or more and cannot be lightened in any way.  Can only drill holes to balanced crank.  No stroking of any kind. Stock Chevy Stroke 3.480. Ford 3.500, Crysler 3.580.
5. Rods cannot weigh any lighter than 540 grams. (example: 5.700 inch for Chevy)
6. No aluminum rods or titanium.
7. Flat top piston 2 or 4 eyebrow.  No dome pistons.
8. Must run Hydraulic cam with max lift of 450, including rockers for Chevy, and Ford .480
9. No rollers of any type.
10. Can run screw in studs and guide plates.  Stud girdles are permitted.
11. May run a stock type rocker arm 1:5 ratio.
12. Can run aluminum pulleys on engine and aluminum radiator.
13. Heads must be stock OEM heads, unaltered, 72cc and up.  No angle milling, no porting or polishing, no vortex, no double hump, no bow ties. Aftermarket heads are NOT allowed. Only stock head replacement, world products heads allowed.  Stock replacement number 43600.
14. 1.94 intake and 1.5 exhaust valve size

     2.041 intake and 1.546 exhaust valve size for Ford Windson

     2.041 intake and 1.655 exhaust valve size for Ford Cleveland

     1.920 intake and 1.624 exhaust valve for Cheysler
15. Stock Holley 4412 two barrel carburetor.  This WILL be gauged.  Removing of choke parts allowed

16. Adapter plate maximum 1" thick ith 2 holes not to exceed 1.700.  No tapering

17. One paper gasket above and below spacer not to exceed 0.060 thickness.
18. May run aluminum intake Edelbrock performer # Chevy ’86 and earlier #2701, ’87-’95, #2104, Ford 351 #3781, Chrysler #2176
19. Headers allowed. 1 5/8” tube side with 3” collector and cannot run any larger than 3” pipes.  No step type headers.
20. May run cast iron manifolds. Deduct 50 lbs. No Bow ties. No Ram horns.
21. No Air leaks of any kind.
22. No MSD system or Hot boxes.  HEI distributors only.

23. No air boxes, no air dams, ram air duct systems permitted.  Only one air cleaner element permitted and all air must pass through air filter.  Paper of reusable filters permitted with no alterations.

24. May run a 602 Crate motor.


Wheels and Tires: 

1. Steel wheels only.  Maximum width 8 inches.
2. Tires must be Towel City recap Blue Dot 15" x 8" 89 compound.
3. No tire soaking or softening permitted.

4. Must start race on tires used for qualifying.


Transmissions:

1. Must run an automatic transmission.
2. Must have a working torque converter no smaller than 10” in diameter.
3. No lock up torque converters, no step torque converters.
4. No Direct drives.
5. No TCI stepped converters.
6. No oil coolers inside cars.


Protests:

Protest top end $500 (includes Carburetor, Intake, Cylinder Head, Camshaft, Piston Head configuration).
Protest complete Engine teardown, $1000 (includes top end plus bore, stroke, pistons, rods and crankshaft).
Protest Carburetor $150.
Protest traction control $150.
Protest Transmission $150.

You are expected to follow the rules and ignorance of the rules will not be accepted as an excuse.  We are committed to bring professionalism and orderly conduct to Kentucky Motor Speedway.  Furthermore, if it doesn't say it, you can't do it.


1.  NO Drugs or Alcohol are allowed in pit area.

2.  Respect for Track officials and other competitors are expected at all times.  No verbal or physical assaults or threats will be tolerated.

3.  All persons entering pit area shall sign in at pit gate.

4.  Reckless driving in pit area is prohibited. 

5. All cars must be equipped with a 2 lb fire extinguisher. 

6.  All weight must be securly mounted and painted white with car number on it.  There will be $100 fine if weight is lost out of car.  No tungsten or similar weight is allowed.

7.  Driver may not exit car on the track to discuss a situation with anyone.  Violation of this rule WILL result in disqualification for the remainder of the race and a suspension may be accessed if deemed appropriate by track officials.

8.  Upon admittance to a restricted area, all participants must conduct themselves in a manner not detrimental to racing.  Profanity in front of the race fans, officials, management, profane signs or writing on cars, etc., will not be tolerated and may subject the offending party to penalties.  ​Conduct in Social Media deemed detrimental to KMS and/or its sponsors may subject the driver or team to penalties such as fines and could result in immediate to indefinite suspension.  

9. Drivers are responsible for the actions of their crew and family members in the pit area or grandstands.

10. Any driver who intentionally causes a caution condition, without safety being an issue, by stopping, spinning, or any other action, is subject to a 2 lap penalty.

11. All fines and protest monies must be paid in cash, no coins!

​12. All purse winnings will be held in the pit office for 2 weeks only!

13. KMS reserves the right to check anything on any car at any time!  All cars must meet the requirements at all times.

14.  KMS is private property.  Persons caught vandalizing will be prosecuted.  Any person on the property without permission will be considered trespassing and subject to legal action.  Through the pruchase of your pit pass or grandstand ticket and paying the admission fee, you are considered having permission to be on the property.  However, we reserve the right to revoke and cancel this permission at any time that your presence or conduct is not in the best interest of racing, to spectators, officials of this facility.

15. All driver changes must be reported to the track officials prior to the start of the race.  Points and payout monies will be given to the driver on record of the car.  No exceptions!

16. Drivers driving in multiple divisions must purchase a pit entry fee times the number of divisions in which the driver is driving.

17. Any person entering pit are who has failed to purchase a pit pass is trespassing and will be subject to suspension, as well as legal action.

18. All firearms and other weapons are prohibitied on track property

19. If a driver ot their family or crew enters another person's pit area or approaches another person's car and an altercation ensues, the party which left their pit area will be deemed at fault.

20. Decisions of the scoring officials are final.  If you believe a scoring error has occurred in the final rundown, you must see scoring at the end of the race night.

21. All points races will be counted towards end of year championship banquet.  Drivers must be present at banquet to receive championship awards and monies.

2019 Thunder Stock Rules

Car requirements

1. All cars must be same make and model per car brand.

2. Strictly economy based class.  No performance modifications of any type will be allowed.  All cars must retain all stock body parts front to rear and must retain stock front and rear firewalls. Must also have stock floor pans and rocker panels.

3. No X-ing of any cars underneath.  No excessive gutting.  If material is removed, roll cage must be put in place.  All cars must have a 4 point roll cage in car with 4 door bars on drivers side and 3 on passenger side.  Bars can run thru front and rear.

4.Aftermarket bumper covers must cover all bumpers and brace supports and all metal must be behind and covered by by the cover. Must run a stock-type bumper if no bumper cover is used.  Rear bumper/tail light area must be enclosed )no open tail sections). No louvers or holes allowed.

No Spoilers allowed (regardless if they are stock).  

5. Must remove all glass and flammable material from the car.

6. Leaf springs cars must retain all stock frames front to rear and cannot connect frame rail underneath car.

7.No altering frame in any way.

8. Frame must remain stock, unaltered.  No cutting frame as for to shorten or widen frame.

1. Suspension parts must remain absolutely stock for make and model.

​2. Sway bar must be in original rubber mounts where connected to frame.  No adjusting sway bar either side.  Sway bar must be stock.

3. Shocks must be stock Monroe or equivalent, no Bilsteins and in stock location in stock mounts.

4. Stock springs must be in original location.

5. All a-frames must remain stock and must mount in altered stock location.

6. Leaf spring cars must retain all stock frames front to rear and cannot connect frame rail underneath car.

7. Spring spacers in front allowed, rear wedge bolts allowed.

8. Must retain all stock steering components.

9. Must have working 4 wheel brakes.  No disk brakes unless it came as standard equipment.

10. All rear ends must be stock for that make and model car and all trailing arms must be stock and be in stock OEM mounting brackets and in OEM locations on chassis and rear end.  Everything must remain unaltered and completely stock.

11. Stock rear end can be locked or ran open.  No lockers or tru-tracks (stock or aftermarket) allowed.  

12. Drive shaft loop required.

13. Top A-frame bolt max 3'.



Transmission


1. A stock automatic transmission with working torque converter.  No power glides, no manual or racing transmissions allowed.

2. No direct drives, no lock up torque converters, no TCI transmissions.  11' diameter minimum torque converter.

3. No oil coolers inside car.

4. Drive shafts must be painted white.



Wheels and Tires


1. Steel wheels only.  Maximum width 8 inches.  All four rims must be same offset.  3' max.

2. Tires must be Towel City recap BLUE DOT 15' x 8' 89 compound.  All tires must be purchased at track and have track stamp.

3.  No soaking tires.

4. Must meet minimum durometer readings at all times.  We will have a HOT durometer reading and a COLD one.

5. Front wheels, right and left receives 2 degree + or - tolerance.


Engines


1. Maximum Cubic Inch-350 for Chevy and 351 for Ford, Maximum bore .060.

2. Chevy 305 engines and Ford 302 may deduct 300 lbs.

3. All engines must be in stock location,  Can run solid mounts.

4. Engines must be cast iron (block, heads and intake and exhaust).

5. All motors must retain all stock parts such as block, crank, rods.  Must weigh stock weight.  Crank must weigh 50 lbs or more and cannot be lightened in any way. Can only drill holes to balanced crank.  No stroking of any kind.

6. Rods cannot weigh any lighter than 540 grams.

7. Chevy 305 and Ford 302 2 or 4 valve relief.

8. Chevy 350 and Ford 351 4 valve releif cast type or hypereutectic stock replacement only.

​9.  Must have Hydrolic cam with max lift of 400, including rockers.

10. No rollers of any type.

11. Can run screw in studs and guide plates and stud girdle. Must run stock rocker arms at a 1.5 ratio.

12. No high rise or bowtie intakes.  No porting or polishing of any type.

13. Can run aluminum pulleys on engine and aluminum radiator.

14. Heads must be stock OEM heads, unaltered 72cc and up. No angle milling, no porting or polishing, no votex, no double hump, no bow ties. Aftermarket heads are NOT allowed.

2019 Pro 4 Rules


Safety

Racing Seat-aluminum high back seats only, must be bolted in with .375 inch bolts.

Fuel Cells-Fuel cell mandatory. Maximum size 22 gallon.  Must be mounted in a 20 gauge steel fuel cell container in a safe and approved manner meaning securely strapped by placing two straps longwise and two straps crosswise around steel container that fuel cell is in and bolting straps to trunk floor.  Straps minimum 1/8 x 1 inch thickness in width.  Must be mounted in the center.  Must have a fuel cell guard bar made from 1 3/4' /083 min. and be 1" lower than the fuel cell container.  All cells must have a rollover valve.

Fuel Cell Container- Fuel cell must be in a steel contriner surrounded by a 1" by 1" .065 wall thick steel tubing frame.  Fuel cells must have working rollover valve.

Fuel Cell Bar- 1" .083 fuel cell bar must be installed behind fuel cell and must be 1" lower that fuel cell container.

Fuel Cell Height-Bottom of fuel cell 20 gauge steel container must be a minimum of 6" off ground. Recommended fuel cell height 8".

Fuel additives- No fuel additives permitted

Fuel line- Fuel line may be run under car, but must be higher than lowest point of the frame and securely attached.  Fuel line may be run through car from fuel cell, but must be inside a one piece steel pipe and mipe must extend a minimum of 1" out from front and rear firewall.

Drive Shaft Loops- Drive shaft loops are required.  Two drive shaft safety loops made of flat steel, 1/4" x 2" minimum size required.  Drive shaft loops should be mounted 12" from each end of the drive shaft to prevent drive shaft from falling onto the track in case of a u-joint failure, and may help prevent drive shaft from coming through floorboard in case of failure.  Drive shaft scatter shields made from 1/8 aluminum.


Vehicle Weight

* 2,000cc Engine--Required to weigh 1900 lbs without driver, with a left side percent no more than 53% without driver.

* 2,300cc Engine--Required to weigh 2050 lbs without driver, with a left side percent no more than 53% without driver.

* 2,500cc Engine--Required to weigh 2250 lbs without driver, with a left side percent no more than 53% without driver.

* Winning Car--All winners will be required to add 25 lbs to the right side frame rail until such time that they fall out of the top 3, and then they will be allowed to remove 25 lbs to return to being competitive.


Engines

* No porting and polishing of heads or intake.

* Cast iron heads only. Single cam heads only.

* After market big valves allowed

* Absolutely no deshrouding valve seat.

* No roller cams.  No roller rockers.

* 2.0 and 2.3 minimum of 45 cc's valve chambers.


Carburetor 

350 barrel Holley only.  All air must enter through venture.

* Epoxing boosters for safety only.

* Cold air boxes are allowed

* No modifying of carburetors will be permitted

* Jets/power valves/squirters/accelerator pumps may be changed.

* Spacers up to 3" allowed including adapter.

* Air filters must remain under the hood.


Engine Blocks

* May be bored out of 50 over no more.

Crank Shafts--2000 crank must weigh 27.5 and 2300 crank shaft must weigh 30.5 No stroking up or down.  No knife edging or lightening of crank allowed.  Balancing of crank is allowed. 

* Front of engine may sit back up to 2" behind center line of top ball joints.

* No aluminum blocks.  Absolutely no aluminum or titanium internal engine parts allowed of any kind.

* Pistons allowed to be a maximum of .010 out of block.  Forged or cast allowed.  Dome pistons cannot be more than .010 out of block.

*Electrical fuel pumps recommended

* Any distributor allowed that fits in stock location.

* No traction control device allowed.

* No crank triggered ignition systems allowed.


Transmissions

* Any stock transmission is allowed with all gears functioning.  No gear removal.

* Flywheels must be steel stock and weigh at least 12 lbs.

* Bell housing must have a hole for inspection.

* No aluminum fly wheels or pressure plates allowed.  Presure plates must be stock steel.

* Stock clutch or button type allowed.  Button type must be stock diameter.

* All additional weight must be painted white with car number on it.

* Rear ends must be locked.  Full spool, mini spool, or welded.  Quick change is allowed but must be locked with limited gear selection or wieght penalty.  Maximum thread width 65" front and rear.


Mufflers

DB level is up to track discretion.  Headers are allowed.


Brakes

Must have 4 functioning brakes at all times.  one per wheel.


Wheels

Must be steel and 15 x 8 on all four corners.  Any of set allowed.  One inch lug nuts required.  Tires will be Towel City recapped tires.  No soaking or softening of tires at all.


Shocks

Shocks may have plugs or shrader valves.  No external canisters allowed.  No internal or external bump stocks.


***All cars must be painted and lettered.

*** Side skirts permitted.  Minimum ground height 3" for nose and skirt.

***Spoiler maximum 6" height and 60" width and can be any angle.

***Body make does not have to match engine make.

***Front and rear firewalls and rocker panel access must be sealed with metal out to body panels.  No open holes in fire wall.  Holes must be covered with metal.


Roll Bars

* Full roll cage with minumum 3 door bars in driver side and 2 in passenger side with diagonal bar behind the driver.  All roll cage tubing must be 1 1/2" OD .090 wall thickness.  Gussets required in all left door bars.  Plating of outside of drivers side door with 1/8" or thicker plate steel is highly recommended.

*May run bars from main roll cage out and around in front of radiator.  Support bars from frame up to hoop are legal.  Bars 1 1/2" x .090 minimum wall thickness for roll bar tubing.  Can run roll from top of main hoop to the back edge of frame by fuel cell along with additional bars to protect fuel cell and rear clip.  All cages should be installed by a certified welder. 

*Must have a cross bar behind the driver.

*Additional bars may be added n drivers area (leg, head, and side bars must have roll padding on any bar around drivers body).


Bodies

* Must be after market bodies.  No steel or dirt car bodies.  No rub rails or nerf bars allowed.

*Series inspector and track promoters reserve the right to ask for improvements in order to keep our image high.

* Each car must have engine size, total weight, and left side % in 1" letters on windshield.

*Wheel base 96" to 104".

* Bodies must be stock appearing.

* Plastic noses and rear bumper covers are legal.  Must use rear bumper cover to enclose rear of vehicle.

* Firewalls, floor pans and interior panels can be either stock sheet metal or fabricated sheet metal or riveted in place.  Interior must be sealed, all holes covered with sheet metal.

* Windshields will be 1/8" Lexan/Polycarbonate front windshield mandatory.  No plexiglass.

* Three window braces are highly recommended to support front windshield.

* Wink mirrors and wide angle mirrors are legal.  Left and right side mirrors are legal.

* May run stock steering column or replace it with 2 pc steel 3/4" DOM steel shaft using Universal joint near the middle of the shaft. At least 1 Universal joint MUST be used in the center of the steering shaft area.  Must be approved by inspector.

* Hoods must be held shut with quick release hairpin fasteners to secure panel.

* Fiberglass hoods permitted.  Scooped hood for added breather clearance allowed.

* Minimum of 4 horizontal bars on the right and left side of the car.

* Window must be of ample size for the driver to enter and exit the car.

* Gusset plates at butt weld's in driver compartment required.


Battery

* Battery must be securely mounted in a secure place. 12 volt system only.

* Must have a working emergency cut-off master switch withing reach of driver and officials.


Cooling System

* Any metal stock production or racing radiators permitted in stock location.

* Fans must have 180 degree shroud covering the top 50% of the fan.

* Mandatory and operational radiator overflow metal catch can and exit tube installed ahead of firewall.

* No antifreeze permitted at any time.


Frames

* Tube chassis are permitted.  Frame rail must be a minimum of 2 x 2 box tubing .095 wall.


Suspension and Ground Clearance

* May run any chassis.  No wide 5 hubs.

* May run racing springs.  No fiberglass springs.

* Coil overs are permitted.

* Maximum sway bar diameter is 1.25".

* Wedge bolts are permitted.

* Steel A frame bushings are permitted.

* Minimum frame height 5" at all times.  Weigh boxes welded to the frame become part of the frame and must meet 5" rule.

* Maximum tread width 65".  Center to center of tire.  Outside of wheel to outside of wheel.

* Stock or aftermarket spindles.

* Stock or aftermarket rack and pinion steering.


Protest

* The track will retain 15% and the inspector retains 15%, winner of the protest keeps the rest.

*$500 to protest full motor.

* $200 to protest head.

* $100 visual protest.

* Any parts found to be illegal will be checked before the next race.  Failure to change these parts will result in DQ and not being allowed to race.


General

* No radios at any time.

* Track prefer for the division to part together. 


Series Ethics and Expectations

* No cursing in front of women and children

No threatening of violence

* No bashing track/officials/drivers/sponsors.  Doing so will get you barred.  This is for social media and/or radio shows.  Zero tolerance.  We are Pro 4 drivers and teams and we will act as such.
